Autumn-Born Whimsies

A little bit of felt

I really enjoy wet felting. I love starting from raw wool roving and ending with whatever I want to create. Today I want to show you folks a pair of wristlets I made. Β I really love the grey scale/vivid color combo and when I got a bit of a super vivid pink wool in a sample bag I ordered, I knew I had to do something cool and 80’s like with it.

I love the way these turned out. I added little bits of silk thread in places, and I hand-spun some of the pink wool into a little length of yarn to add some texture to them.

I definitely plan to make more wristlets because they’re so fun. Next time, though, I’ll show you one of the little bags I’ve been making!

Hi! Pardon the mess-It’s still me!

Back in the fall, I’d started poking around with some fiber art- wet felting, some weaving, that sort of thing. And over the winter as I did my seasonal day job, I did a lot of thinking about where I am, where I’ve been, and where I’m going, creatively speaking.

One of the resounding things is that, while I love making nail polish and I don’t see that changing in any way, I had been missing other creative endeavours. That got me thinking about how I wanted to get back to that. I already had Bramblefae Boutique to use if I wanted.

But, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that the Bramblefae identity didn’t really suit me anymore. It didn’t really feel like *me*.

I spent a lot of years trying to be, creatively, a little of everything for everybody and that’s amazing for people who can do it, but I felt I needed to scale things back a bit; to focus more on things I *loved*, rather than things I thought other people would love.

I make mead for fun and for spiritual reasons- about a gallon, twice a year. I, half-jokingly, made labels for it that say, “Autumn-born Meadery”, because my husband and I were both born in October. And I’ve realized that the Autumn-Born moniker fits both me, and what I want to do creatively, a lot better than anything else at this point. πŸ™‚

So, over the next few weeks, I’ll be showing off some of the things I’m doing, and opening up a shop of some sort for the things that aren’t nail polish.

As for BeeFae, nothing at all will change there, and I am excited about some of the new polishes I’ve got in the works. πŸ™‚

You will need to update your bookmarks, I believe, because this will now be autumnbornwhimsies.com. Twitter will still be @BeeFae for polish and @bramblefae for everything else, for now (If I change my @, I’ll be sure and let you all know, of course!).

Thank you all for your willingness to come along on this ride with me and I look very forward to showing you what’s next. πŸ™‚

A Small Update!

Hi! How’ve you folks been? It’s been a lot of snow for me over the last day or so, and now it’s super cold. :p Good weather for staying inside.

I wanted to give a quick update post since I’ve kind of solidified a timeline for the next few months. πŸ™‚

February 1st, I’m putting the Etsy shop in vacation mode for a bit. I’ll open it back up March 1st.Β  As I go through current, past, and future colors-to take some out, bring some back, take new photos, etc- I realized that this is a bigger project than I’d thought about.Β  Add in, also, that my day job is going into it’s busiest time of year, and I realized that I need the month of February to get all that done. πŸ™‚

So, feel free to pick up any polishes you’ve been thinking about because they may not be there in March.Β  (I’m not being a shit- I really haven’t finalized the list yet. :p )

In the meantime, though, I will still be tweeting pics of polishes and other things because I am SUPER happy with this new macro lens I bought for my phone (Thanks to a tip from the lovely Dragonsworn Cosmetics! ) so be sure and follow me on twitter!

Thanks, folks, as always, for your support. 2019 is gonna be amazing! ❀

It’s a Garden Party!

Hi folks! After what seems like FOREVER, I have a new line of polishes! Here in Indiana, the winter has just dragged on, so we needed a set of polishes to help bring on Spring. πŸ˜€

I started with the idea of a Victorian era garden party and just went from there. πŸ™‚

Each of these polishes are available in the Etsy shop right now, along with 2018’s birthstone polishes- up to April, of course. πŸ™‚

Looking toward the New Year

I’ve got some news to share today.

Let me get the less exciting news out of the way first.

I’ve closed the BrambleFae Boutique Etsy shop.Β  This has been a long time coming, folks so don’t be too sad-I’m not. I have loved every single thing I’ve made for you folks over the years, and I will continue to be available for commissions, but that’s gonna be it, I think.Β I will keep the Facebook page open and of course y’all can hit me up on twitter anytime. πŸ™‚

Over the last couple of years, I’ve been fighting with the fact that my wrists are not up for the wire work like they used to be and as I did a few holiday commissions this year, I realize I just can’t ignore that.Β  This was definitely a factor when I decided to turn my skills toward cosmetics.

Speaking of which (*grin*), I have a new, limited time polish in the BeeFae Etsy shop!

Tinsel and Lights is a green holo nail polish that I initially made for myself, but I love it a lot, so I wanted to share it. πŸ™‚ It is *way* more sparkly and glittery than the pics show (Check out the video on my Insta for a slightly better look!)

I know I’ll be wearing it till well into the new year. πŸ˜€

Speaking of the new year (I’m all about boring segue-ways today, folks. :p ), there is so much coming from me. So much. First-instead of monthly polish pairs, in 2018, I’ll be releasing birthstone inspired polishes on the first of every month! I’ll unveil January’s in the next couple of weeks. πŸ™‚ There will be a full polish line in March, but sometime before that I’ll be releasing a special pair that I’ve been working on. πŸ™‚

I’ll also be releasing a few eye shadows, probably in the spring. πŸ™‚Β  And I’m about to begin working with scents, so maybe in the later part of 2018, I’ll release a roll on or solid scent or two. ❀

2018 is the year to remind yourself to feel fabulous, and if you’re into cosmetics, I will be here to help you out.

Peace, folks. I’ll see y’all soon.

…or something like that. πŸ™‚

Starting at midnight (EST) on November 24th and until the end of the 27th, every order from my shop over 9 dollars will be 40% off.Β  Then from the 28th till December 2nd, every order over 10 dollars will be 20% off.

Oh, and did I mention that during that time, you’ll be able to order every polish I’ve had in the shop since it opened? Including former Polish Pairs. πŸ™‚

And I’ll also have a mini release of holiday polishes available as well. I’ll be showing previews of those 4 polishes over the days leading up to the sale.

Lastly, I want to remind everyone that I can now ship polish anywhere in the world! So enjoy the sale everyone, and let your friends and family know, too! πŸ™‚

September’s Polish Pair and news!

Hi! I’m here to show off September’s Polish Pair and give a bit of news out!

First- The BeeFae Etsy shop is having a sale! Β Etsy’s recently given us the tools to run actual sales, and, so I am checking these tools out by having a sale. Through Tuesday, you can save 10% on 20$ or more! That’s 2 polishes! Not shabby, yeah?

Along with that, I’m keeping August’s Polish Pair in the shop for the duration of the sale, so if you haven’t picked them up yet, now’s your chance!

Okay! Now to September’s Polish Pair. This month I was playing around with the idea of the Northern Lights. Β They’re definitely on my bucket list to see. So, these two polishes are, like August’s, meant to go together.

The first is called The Merry Dancers. I was reading about how various ancient northern folks had looked at the Lights, and this was one of the ways Scottish folks used to refer to the Aurora Borealis, and I liked the idea, so I applied it to this polish. It’s a cool blue shimmer that has a gentle color shift between purple/pink and green and it’s proven exeedingly difficult to photograph well. *grin*20170830_100533

Next up, we’ve got Bardic Cloak. It’s sheer and sparkly and I really really love it.

The cool thing about them is that you can put a coat of Bardic Cloak over The Merry Dancers for extra fun!

So, I’ll get these in the shop early tomorrow (The 1st of September), that way you’ll have the chance to buy these at a discount for the weekend!

I’ve got some more things up my sleeve, and I’ll be talking more about them over the next few weeks!

Have a great weekend, everyone!
